Body found in San Jacinto Mountains identified

The Riverside County Coroner's Office has identified a body found in a remote area of the San Jacinto Mountains on Sunday as that of a missing 54 year old San Diego County woman. Deborah Hughlin of Cardiff, by the Sea was reported missing not far from the same area on 3/24. She had been hiking along the Pacific Crest Trail and had last been seen in the Garner Valley area on Apple Canyon Road.

Searchers scoured the area for days but were unable to locate Hughlin and called off the search. Two hikers noticed the body about 50 yards off of a trail on Sunday in a remote area known as Ansel Peak Rock. Due to limited light and rugged terrain, Sheriff's Deputies and members of the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit used a helicopter to airlift the body off of the mountain on Monday.

The cause of Hughlin's death is still unknown but an autopsy is pending.
